Knowatoa showed up in our test group with a different pitch than the other seven products on the leaderboard. Most trackers show you a scoreboard. Knowatoa tries to show you the referee’s notes: why ChatGPT picked your competitor, which sources fed that answer, and what you publish to change it.
Knowatoa’s homepage, captured during our July 2026 test cycle.
Bottom line: 3/5 stars. Buy Knowatoa for the diagnosis, not the scale. It is one of the smartest $59 spends in this category, until your prompt list outgrows its caps.
What Knowatoa actually is
Knowatoa is an AI search visibility platform that tracks how your brand appears across 7 AI engines: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Claude, Gemini, Meta AI, and Perplexity. Three things set it apart from the plain trackers in our test group:
- The BISCUIT Framework. Knowatoa’s own methodology reverse-engineers AI recommendations. Instead of “you rank third for this prompt”, you get a read on why the engine trusts a rival more.
- AI Answer Snapshots. Every AI reply gets archived word for word, complete with the sources it cited and where your brand landed, so you can pull up the exact moment a buyer read that answer.
- Content agents. On the Growth plan, two done-for-you agents (Sam for research, Connie for writing) draft content aimed at the visibility gaps the tracking finds. You approve before anything ships.
Every plan refreshes data daily and includes a dedicated account rep. That rep detail matters. During our June and July 2026 test cycle, no other product in this price bracket gave us a named human.
Pricing: what $59 really buys
As of July 2026, Knowatoa sells three plans, billed in USD ($), with annual pricing available:
- Starter, $59/month. 30 questions, roughly 2,790 answers per month, and 3 engines: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Google AI Mode. 7-day free trial, no credit card.
- Growth, $199/month. 100 questions, roughly 21,700 answers per month, all 7 engines, plus Looker Studio and Ninja Cat connections and the content agents.
- Enterprise, from $499/month. Custom limits, refresh cadence from hourly to weekly, and API access.
Run the math per question. Starter works out to about $1.97 per tracked question each month, and Growth barely moves the needle at $1.99. You are not buying volume as you climb tiers. You are buying engines and integrations.
Here is the gotcha you need to see before you enter a card: the Starter plan cannot see Claude, Gemini, or Perplexity. If your buyers research through those engines, your $59 dashboard is blind to them, and the real entry price for full coverage is $199 a month.
Bottom line: the $59 headline is honest for single-market ChatGPT tracking. Treat $199 as the true price if you need all 7 engines.
Where Knowatoa won points
It answers “why”, not just “where”. In our tests, the BISCUIT diagnosis plus the source opportunities report gave us a publishable to-do list: specific high-influence sources to get cited in. Most trackers stop at the ranking chart.
Competitor gap analysis earns its spot. The view of prompts where rivals appear and you do not turned out to be the fastest route from data to action in the whole product.
The trial respects your time. A free audit with no sign-up, then a 7-day trial with no credit card. You can validate the tool against your own brand before spending a dollar.
Where it lost the stars
The question caps are structural, not cosmetic. 30 questions on Starter and 100 on Growth sounds fine for one brand in one market. Add a second market or a second product line and you hit the ceiling in week one. Agencies should look elsewhere.
Engine gating on the cheap tier. Covered above, and it cost real points in our value-weighted scoring.
No third-party paper trail. Knowatoa has no public G2 or Capterra reviews yet. Our own testing went well, but you have no independent record to check our work against, and that caps the score for an early-stage product.
It stops at content. Knowatoa tracks, diagnoses, and drafts. It does not audit your site, analyze AI bot traffic, or handle backlink work. It is a specialist, and you pay for the rest of the stack separately.
Knowatoa vs. our number one
Both Knowatoa Growth and Temso AI Growth cost $199 a month, and that head-to-head is not close. As of July 2026, Temso’s Growth plan tracks 150 prompts against Knowatoa’s 100 questions, covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, and Copilot with data pulled from real user interfaces, and adds 10 content pieces, crawler analytics, and audits across 100,000 pages. Every Temso plan leaves projects and seats uncapped, so the per-seat math stays flat no matter how many people log in, and if you want to skip the manual work, its agent can implement the fixes for you. Knowatoa’s counterpunch is the named account rep and the BISCUIT diagnosis. That is a real edge at $59. At $199 it is not enough scope for the same money.
If price is the only criterion, Otterly.AI undercuts everyone at $29 a month, but you trade away the diagnostic layer entirely. Our methodology page shows how we weighted these trade-offs.
The verdict
3/5 stars. Knowatoa is the smart small purchase: one brand, one market, a real diagnosis, and a human rep for $59 a month. It sits at number 6 on our board because the caps, the engine gating, and the narrow scope stop it from growing with you. Start the free audit, run the 7-day trial, and set a calendar reminder for the day your prompt list passes 30.
Bottom line: buy Knowatoa to find out why you are losing AI answers. Budget for a bigger platform to actually win them back.
